Story: Tarot Reading the Turning World
On the night when the winds quieted—as if the whole sky were listening—I lit a single lamp and asked the question that had been circling my thoughts for weeks:
“What is the dominant collective energy our planet is moving through… and how should we best respond?”
I shuffled my deck three times, letting the question settle like incense into the unseen.
When I laid out the first card, the theme and essence of the reading slid into place on its own.
The Magician’s Lamp
The image was Aladdin with his magic lamp—my deck’s version of The Magician and Apprentice: cultivating mastery. Immediately, I saw it: the open window behind them and the red robin perched on its frame.
“The world is wide open to the apprentice,” I whispered, feeling the truth stir.
And in that moment, I realized humanity is becoming that young apprentice—fumbling, awakening, beginning to understand the elements of earth, water, fire, and air.
We are in mentorship with the planet itself, learning responsibility. We must actualize our lessons by making connections and, in this way, change the world. We must direct our intentions wisely.
The Seeker of Hearts
The next card, the incoming energy, The Seeker of Hearts, floated forward with a warmth I felt in my chest.
A young, masculine figure held a glowing heart high on his standard. A dove circled it with a ribbon.
Was it binding the heart? Was it delivering it? Gifting it?
I couldn’t tell—and that mystery was the message.
“This,” I said softly, “is the energy entering our world stage.
We’re integrating the heart back into our structures and our lives.” It was a tantric, healing shift—one that asked us to feel again and take the quantum leap to trust.
A Gestation
The Action Card suggested stagnation and an inability to move forward: a teeter-totter not moving because one figure, too heavy, too oppressive, stopped the movement and held the lighter figure hostage, suspended in the air, frustrated, unable to move.
Jupiter and Capricorn present in the card remind us that the heaviness we feel is temporary. All things change. The lesson is balance. Rebalancing is the path.” Observe the polarities and make choices. Observe the dualities with the willingness to handle its complexities.
Already, the reading was shaping itself into a map.
The Subconscious Root
When I turned over the Ten of Crystals, the card of wealth and prosperity glittered like winter light.
“This is the subconscious,” I said. “The dream of prosperity.”
But the card warned me—warned all of us—not to slip into greed or isolation.
“True wealth must be shared,” I reminded myself. “The feast is meant for everyone.” Make the circle complete. Birth this new love into a community of support.
Where This Journey Began
I asked how this collective path started, and the card that answered was The Sun.
“We emerged from the cocoon with purpose and self-actualization,” I said.
“From our essential self. From the intention to manifest our unique nature.”
Where We Are Headed
The next card looked harsher at first: 10 of Wands, Oppression, echoing the teetertotter action card.
But I smiled.
“This isn’t the end,” I said. “This is the beginning. We are in the boiling pot. The pressure before the Phoenix rises.”
It felt like a promise: we will emerge and use the extreme energy for a creative explosion, a new, energetic worldwide endeavor full of channeled passion and love.
Our Role in the World
The next card, 4 of Coins, Power, brought Saturn beside the Sun—steadfast, austere, clear like the emperor, expansive like the sun.
“We must stand in our values and self-expression,” I said.
“Build our world. Hold our ground. Manifest from what is essential and what is true.”
Why We Are Frozen
When I turned the next card—the Princess of Coins—I felt a stillness settle in the room.
“This is our fear and our hope,” I said. “The pause before the rebirth.”
The Princess, the messenger with the power to grant wishes, stared into the earth, holding the question humanity faces now:
Do we choose to birth fear?
Or do we choose to birth love?
I touched the Seeker of Hearts card again and answered aloud:
“We will choose love.”
The Teeter-Totter Shift the Phoenix Rises
I asked what would finally free us from this stagnant place.
The answer arrived in the form of the Prince of Discs—the practical seeker, the material magician, the builder. The architect of new worlds.
“He will rebalance the board,” I said. “This is the energy that tips things toward motion again.”
The Messenger
Beside him came the Princess of Swords, sharp and bright; she is a messenger of clear, unobstructed thinking, presenting a new, decisive pathway.
“She cuts through illusion,” I said. “She brings the clarity of a new beginning.”
Even if moods battle, clarity is coming. Call your energy to you. Face yourself and your truth.
The Outcome
The final card rolled in like a herald: the Wheel of Fortune: good luck. The evaluation is a fortunate turn of fate driven by our choices that are manifesting the present results. A karmic cycle is complete.
“This is the outcome,” I said, feeling the shift.
“Unity. Forward motion. A turning of the wheel.”
Good fortune begins to move our lives forward. When love and our virtues are at the center, we return to harmony.
The Final Vision
I gathered all the cards, seeing their message as one:
We are in a collective shift of the heart.
We are rediscovering the magician’s tools, learning to unite the elements within us and around us.
We are paused—yes—held by fear, imbalance, and the weight of dominators.
But we are also in the final moments before rebirth.
“We are becoming the Phoenix,” I said quietly.
“And we rise the moment we choose love over fear.”
I blew out the lamp, knowing the story was not just a reading— but a path we would follow and collectively share.
